How many people can go in the balloon.
We can take up to 600 pounds in 1 balloon which typically means 2 or 3 passengers.  We can accommodate 4 or more passengers with multiple balloons. If you want to book a ride that will be more than 2 passengers, please This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. us so we can discuss.

Where do I select the time and day I want to book?
It is on the last step of the checkout process

What happens if the weather forces a cancellation?
We will reschedule your flight for another day.  If you are not able to go on another date, we will refund your deposit/payment.  Any refund will be less the Paypal processing fee as they no longer refund that to the customer (typically $10 on a deposit)

How do I know if the day I want is available?
Our ride calendar on the site is up to date.  If it says "Busy" for the day or time you want to book, it means we are already booked for that slot.

What weather is needed for a hot air balloon flight?
There needs to be no frontal activity or rain in the area. The winds need to be under 10 miles per hour up to a couple of hundred feet.

What time are flights scheduled?
Flights are scheduled at sunrise and just before sunset because that is when the winds are the calmest.

What time do we meet?
Morning flights meet a half an hour before sunrise and evening flights meet two to three hours before sunset.

Where do we meet?
We typically meet at the National Balloon Classic Field just East of Indianola or the National Balloon Museum in Indianola. Meeting time and place will be discussed the evening before the flight.

How long will the flight last?
Flights are 45 minutes to an hour. Your total experience will take approximately three hours.

What do we wear?
Wear comfortable clothing. Tennis shoes or comfortable footwear is important.   If you are tall or have thin/no hair, a hat is recommended as the burners put off some radiant heat that can be uncomfrotable.

What's the temperature in the balloon?
The temperature does not change much from the ground to our top altitude. You lose three degrees every 1,000 feet. So if it is 75 degrees on the ground at 1,000 feet it will be 72 degrees.

What does it feel like?
Flying in a balloon is like nothing else you will ever experience! You will become part of the wind gliding along above the treetops. A ride in a balloon is a very smooth, peaceful, enjoyable experience.

Where will we launch?
We decide where we will take off based on the wind direction at the time of your flight. Our launch sites vary daily, but all sites offer beautiful scenic views of the Indianola area.

Where will we land?
We land where the wind takes us. Your pilot will steer the balloon using wind directions at different altitudes, but ultimately Mother Nature decides where we will land.

What altitude will we reach?
We will fly anywhere from tree-top level to several thousand feet.

What is the balloon made of?
Hot-air balloons are made of a polyester or nylon material.

What kind of fuel is used?
Propane is the fuel used for flying hot-air balloons. Therefore, due to the flammable nature of propane, smoking is never allowed during your ballooning experience.

What do I need to bring?
Bring your cameras, comfortable clothing, and a great attitude and we will have a lot of fun!
